Matter matters! A brief intro to the new smart home standard and how Home Assistant supports it

In HKOSCon 2022, we discussed how Home Assistant could help to bridge the gaps between smart home products from different camps with local control in mind. We touch-based on the emerging yet promising Matter standard that hoped to resolve a lot of the interpretability challenges of different smart home ecosystems. One year on, products that comply with the Matter standard start to appear, and Home Assistant has also evolved to provide better support for Matter products.

OAO - User Orientation Cloud Architecture for the Pi

I will be introducing a new open source project written by myself for 4 years named "Open ArOZ Online" (OAO), which is a light weight user orientated cloud architecture for the Raspberry Pi series. It support IoT functionality, media streaming and more with an easy to use Web Desktop User Interface just like a normal operating system. Expected to be completed and release on Github in late April to early May. This talk will be a quick introduction to such a system, a quick hand-on tutorial and basic introduction on the architecture of the system modular design framework.

Decentralized data marketplace based on Distributed Ledgers

The value of data is not a new thing, whether in business or in warfare.

Either the goal of precision marketing or the material collection for machine learning,
their intentions can be shorten into one word: data, the oil in the digital era.

Not surprisingly, data storage and marketplace turn into new challenges. In this session, we'll introduce an innovative type of data marketplace platform with distributed legder technology (DLT) to transform data into profits with better trust basic.

Ice-cream robot: creating QR code ice-cream coupons with GravityForms (and minimum coding)

IoT is the tread of modern living. Every machine we work with, has the tenancy to get connected to the internet for centralized processing and functionality enhancement. System design and architecture, with evolvement of tool sets, has become an independent skill regardless of programming language. The author here presents the ROBI3 the ice-cream robot (which participants would experience it just below the conference venue) how she managed to link up the its QR code couponing with Gravity Form, one of the most popular plugin for WordPress with minimum coding.

Let's Fix The Internet

The Internet today is plagued by many problems. From viruses and spam, to identity theft and piracy.

We can solve those problems.

With a virtual operating system that runs the cloud, using blockchains to secure identities and data, a virtual network layer to protect agains unauthorized network access, and a virtual machine to sandbox untrusted code.

This talk will describe Elastos, an Operating System for the smart web.

It will explore the approach that Elastos takes to achieve these goals, and gives a vision of a possible future internet.
